Volunteer Opportunities at UCSD Partnership Schools!

The TMC/CREATE School Partnership Program is seeking volunteers to serve in classroom and non-classroom positions at two partner school sites: The Preuss School UCSD and Gompers Preparatory Academy. Volunteers support students in grades 6-12 at high-needs charter schools, where educators are utilizing innovative and effective methods of shaping positive outcomes for low-income, first-generation college-bound youth.

Available positions include:

Administrative Assistant

Classroom Tutor

Dean's Office

Family Support Center

Library

Registrar

School Counseling

School Nurse

Special Education

Student Services

As part of a well-connected community invested in education reform, participants will gain professional contacts and invaluable work experience to prepare for future job opportunities and graduate programs. Additionally, participants will receive a certificate of completion for their service.

All applicants are accepted to the program, and priority placement is given to those who submit materials by Friday, December 14. Volunteers make a one-quarter commitment, and these opportunities are offered every Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarter.

Additional volunteer opportunities with our affiliate, EducationCorps:

Through EducationCorps, a new volunteer program operated by AmeriCorps*VISTA, students can serve as Corps Member Tutors for K-12 students in San Diego. Corps Member Tutors will have the opportunity to network with AmeriCorps members and affiliate organizations, plus get a letter of recommendation once service is completed! By the end of service, volunteers will gain over 100 community service hours and valuable experience working with youth. Officer positions are available for those interested in leadership experience.

EducationCorps currently sends tutors to three elementary schools and two high schools and is continually establishing additional partnerships. K-12 students that participate come from disadvantaged backgrounds and will have the opportunity to work directly with EducationCorps members toward academic achievement and future success.
