The Department of Cognitive Science (http://cogsci.ucsd.edu) within the Division of Social Sciences at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The department invites applications for a new faculty position in human-computer interaction. The department has a preference for a senior researcher to be appointed at the associate or full professor level, but will also consider junior candidates. Appointment begins July 1, 2012.
The UCSD Department of Cognitive Science was the first of its kind in the world, and, as part of an exceptional scientific community, continues to influence the field it helped to create. The department is truly interdisciplinary, with a faculty whose interests span anthropology, computer science, human development, linguistics, neuroscience, philosophy, psychology, and sociology.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. An interdisciplinary perspective and experience with multiple methodologies is highly valued. The position is part of a new UCSD-wide initiative in Design. The department seeks candidates whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education. Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
